So, milk from China contains Melamine, a compound found in plastics that when consumed in sufficient quantities, can cause kidney problems. Big hairy deal. All that fuss over something so insignificant. Yes several babies in China have died, but what about those babies scattered all over the rest of the world, dying of malnutrition, war, poverty, famine, drought etc... you get the drift. Babies are dying all the time, this fact should not only get the spotlight when the middle/upper class are affected. Tiny tots die from drinking polluted stream water, eating dirt infused slush, consuming lead poisoned fish and what not. At least these babies in China had milk powder to drink, a nice warm cosy bed to take their last breath, and an actual coffin to die in. Whoop-dee-doo!
So now there is a total recall of milk products from china's milk. Its just ridiculous. Considering how much of the food product we actually need to consume in a lifetime before it actually affects us, why are we wasting precious food and leaving horrid carbon prints by recalling all these products?!? What we need to do is, scatter our own cows in those damn golfing greens that are such a waste of precious space, and grow our own friggin vegetables. Local produce for the wind!
Yet with all that said, I looked at the labels of my milk I bought last night. Just in case. One can never be too sure, can we?
